Kamryn recently joined the KCV team as an intern from Northern Kentucky University. Learn about Kamryn's interests and experience below!
Intro
I am currently a full-time second-year law student at Northern Kentucky Salmon P. Chase. College of Law. I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience with a minor in Psychology from Northern Kentucky University in the fall of 2023. During my undergraduate career I was involved in two distinguished neuroscience research labs where I researched cognitive and molecular neuroscience. I decided to transition from the science field to pursue a full-time legal education.
By integrating my neuroscience background with legal studies, I aspire to help bridge the gap between science and law by pursuing a career in patent law, specializing in biopharmaceutical patents.
How did you get interested in tech transfer and commercialization?
I was first exposed to tech transfer and commercialization during my research experiences in my undergraduate career where we researched newly patented biopharmaceuticals. Although I was on the science side of these projects, I became fascinated with the legal side. These experiences allowed me to develop an interest in tech transfer and commercialization. This interest has only increased during my time in law school and I have found a passion in getting to see and learn just how interconnected and fundamental science is to the legal field.
What are you hoping to learn as part of the KCV internship?
During my time at KCV I hope to gain hands-on experience in intellectual property and patent law. KCV serves as an integral part of using intellectual property and tech transfer to transform higher educational institutions and this experience serves as a great opportunity for me to get involved in both aspects.
What's your favorite aspect of the internship experience so far?
I am extremely excited about being able to learn all aspects of tech transfer and commercialization other than just the science side of which I am most comfortable and familiar with to help encourage and prosper innovation.
Can you share a little-known fact about yourself?
I grew up playing competitive soccer and went on to play Division One Collegiate Soccer at Northern Kentucky University.
