The IMPACT Competition encourages ideation relevant to the improvement of the social, health, or economic conditions and highlight the value of innovators from across the state of Kentucky. Students, faculty and staff from KCV Partner Institutions can submit their idea for a chance to win up to $25,000 for their institution to bring their idea to life.​

Eligibility Guidelines

  • Ideas must be relevant to the improvement of the social, health, or economic conditions of Kentucky.

  • Applicants must be affiliated with a KCV partner institution as faculty, staff, or student. Eligible institutions are listed below.

  • Idea must be disclosed to your institution in accordance with the institution’s IP policy.

  • Opt-in to KCV for idea is required as proof of institutional support (e.g., idea needs to be disclosed to institution, then institution must opt-in to KCV if idea has not yet been disclosed). 

  • Only disclosed ideas that have not previously received IMPACT funding are eligible for new awards.

  • Kentucky State University

  • Morehead State University

  • Murray State University

  • Northern Kentucky University

  • Western Kentucky University

Award Detail

  • ​Submissions will be reviewed competitively by a panel of judges from around the state of Kentucky.

  • Awards will be advanced to institution by June 30, 2024.

  • Prize Amounts:

    • Up to $25,000
